“Skull Island“, an animated series from the MonsterVerse francise aired recently on Netflix. Featuring the island’s namesake, it references what “Godzilla: King of the Monsters“, first revealed, the Hollow Earth.

A world in the earth’s mantle close to its core is very exciting indeed, albeit totally ficticious. The Titans were said to have lived there and inhabiting Skull Island thereafter. “Godzilla vs. Kong” showcased this world through very captivating cinematics.

However, the physics of it all is rather intriguing. I find it to be a rather good plot device in the science-fiction genre. The MonsterVerse portarys the Hollow Earth as a subterranean ecosystem with a gravitational anomaly where the creatures can be gravitationally bound to the top or bottom. I wonder what form of fictitious physical properties would be required for such a phenomenon. But I truly feel that this would constitute a grand world building endeavor as that we love in high fantasy.

All of these brings to mind, “Upside Down“, and also vaguely, the “GeoFront” beneath Tokyo-3 in Evangelion. I’m sure the social psychology and politics of the day are mind boggling. ๐
